Hyderabad: Boy swallows naphthalene, dies in hospital
Hyderabad: A two-year-old boy died after consuming naphthalene balls at his residence in Nacharam on Sunday.
According to the police, Rajesh Bara, 38, a worker in Hitech Iron Foundry at IDA Nacharam and a resident of SV Nagar of Mallapur complained that his son, Arif, resides with his wife’s sister Neelima and her family at Bhavaninagar of Mallapur and swallowed naphthalene balls by mistake on Wednesday.
“The family immediately took him to a local hospital and then shifted him to a private hospital in Tarnaka for treatment. On Friday, after Arif’s condition became critical, they referred him to Gandhi Hospital for further treatment, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment on Sunday,” said Nacharam police inspector M. Mahesh, adding that the complainant did not suspect anyone behind the death.
A case was booked under Section 174 of CrPC and the boy’s body was sent for post-mortem.
