Karnataka: Mind your language Congress to its leaders

With Assembly polls round the corner, Congress leaders and workers are likely to attack their political rivals and use abusive language.

Bengaluru: Wary of party leaders launching personal remarks, just as Mani Shankar Aiyar did against Prime Minister Narendra Modi resulting in his suspension, instructions have been issued to all Congress leaders in Karnataka to hold their tongue while criticizing leaders of Opposition parties. “We have asked every leader to mind their language while speaking against leaders of opposition parties, and those who disobey this order will meet the same fate as Mr Aiyar”, KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, told Deccan Chronicle.

Recently, urban development minister R. Roshan Baig reportedly abused Mr Modi in unparliamentary language while addressing a rally in his constituency. Instead of defending Mr Baig’s action, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar and Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao not only condemned it but also forced him to apologize. With Assembly polls round the corner, Congress leaders and party workers are likely to attack their political rivals and use abusive language. Therefore, they have been asked not to do so failing which stern action would be initiated against them. Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao said in recent years, it was fashionable for leaders of all political parties to use filthy language while taking on their opponents.
