Ignore anti-socials: M Venkaiah Naidu
VISAKHAPATNAM: The list of alumni of Andhra University (AU) has a number of prominent personalities, including politicians, bureaucrats, engineers, advocates and scientists. Andhra University has a great past and the university should now focus on more research and improve its academic standard, said Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Speaking at the alumni meet of AU here on Saturday, Mr Naidu said there was a need to improve the research quality that would help us find out the solutions for issues. Andhra University has got NAAC A grade but it has to improve its quality in terms of teaching, research and few others to achieve A++ grade, he added.
Emphasising on the importance of education and teachers in the society, the Vice President reiterated that Google can never replace guru (teacher). “A guru gives not mere academics, but gives insight also”, he added.
A few sections in the society have been fuelling the unrest in the universities for their selfish goals. Students should not be influenced by the ideas of the anti-social elements and their focus should always be on education and research, Mr Naidu said.
