Lake GO is under study, says Telangana government
Hyderabad: The state government has filed an affidavit with the National Green Tribunal in a case filed against GO 111, which seeks to protect lakes in the city.
The petitioner named 11 respondents including state government, few government bodies, 111 GO Porata Sam-astha and a few individuals.
The case was filed by Thakur Raj Kumar Singh from Human Rights & Consumer Protection Cell Trust. In the affidavit on behalf of chief secretary, municipal administration secretary Naveen Mittal said: “Lake Protection Committee was formed on the matter wide GO 839 on December 7, 2016.”
He said the committee headed by panchayat raj special chief secretary S.P. Singh will study the role of Himayath-sagar and Osman Sagar lakes in supplying drinking water to Hyderabad considering the fact that drinking water need of the city are met from Krishna and Godavari rivers.
“The committee may take the assistance of any expert and submit the report within 45 days,” he explained.
