Namakkal: In a significant development, CBI officials began investigations in Namakkal on Friday into the sensational DSP Vishnu Priya’s suicide case.
Vishnu Priya had committed suicide at her Thiruchengode camp office on August 18 last year by hanging. It was alleged that she had to take the extreme step following pressure from higher officials over the investigation into the murder of a Dalit youth Gokulraj. The case was under investigation by State CB-CID police.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Priya’s father obtained a High court order for a CBI inquiry. Based on the court order, the CBI began to inquire in the case recently. On Friday, CBI officials including SP Raja Bala and DSP Ravi visited Namakkal. They discussed case details with Namakkal SP Maheswaran, official sources said. The team is likely to camp in Namakkal till December 16, sources added.
