DST grants Rs 1.4 crore to SRMU-AP under FIST

Vijayawada: Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has granted Rs 1.4 crore to SRM University-AP' under its FIST (Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure) programme.

SRMU-AP vice chancellor Prof. Manoj K. Arora said the university’s Mechanical Engineering department will use the grant to acquire a High-Resolution X-ray Micro Computed Tomographic Scanner.

The equipment will help material scientists, engineers, manufacturers and researchers investigate internal structures and pore flaws of metallic, polymer and ceramic samples / components non-destructively. The state-of-the-art facility will promote R&D activities in new and emerging areas of materials science engineering and manufacturing.

Mechanical Engineering department head Prof. G.S. Vinod Kumar said the DST grant will enable to strengthen postgraduate and doctoral research facilities at the department.
