Thiruvananthapuram: CPM secretariat to the rescue of min Jaleel
Thiruvananthapuram: With the CPM state secretariat backing higher education and minority affairs minister K.T. Jaleel who is facing charges of nepotism, the threat looming over his job has blown over at least for now
The secretariat accepted Jaleel's explanation that the allegations levelled by opposition parties were baseless. The minister had called on chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan the other day to explain his side.
The party state leadership has taken his views at face value while rejecting the charges levelled by the Muslim League and Congress.
The meeting felt that the appointment to the post of general manager of Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation was made after complying with the norms and ensuring the required eligibility. Moreover the contract appointment was made for a period of one year.
Koidyeri reiterated that those who are raising the allegations against the minister should take the legal route.
However, in the event of a divergent legal opinion or reference, the party would take a call on discussing the issue then.
The party believed that the Muslim League had launched slanderous campaign against the minister. At the secretariat meeting a couple of members felt that the minister’s statement given to the media had created confusion.
The Muslim League had accused Jaleel of appointing his cousin Adeeb K.T., as general manager in Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation, flouting all rules. The corporation is under the minister.
