Thiruvananthapuram: CB clueless on DySP
Thiruvananthapuram: As the police is yet to nab Sanalkumar murder case accused DySP B.Harikumar even after four days post the incident, mother of the deceased has said that she would stage a sit-in in front of the Secretariat if the arrest of the accused was delayed indefinitely.
The Crime Branch police team led by SP K.M. Antony probing the case has said that they were yet to receive any clue regarding the hideout of Harikumar.
Sanalkumar's mother Remani alleged that the police was deliberately delaying Harikumar's arrest. She said that she would be left with no other option but to stage an indefinite sit-in in front of the Secretariat if the arrest was delayed. Sanalkumar's wife Viji and other family members also said that they lost faith in the police investigation. Mounting pressure on the police, various political parties and action council of local people staged demonstrations in front of Neyyatinkara police station on Friday protesting against the police laxity in arresting the DySP.
The Crime Branch team on Friday inspected the murder spot at Kodangavila as well as the rented house of Harikumar. The police had earlier tracked Harikumar's mobile phone location at Madurai. But the phone was thereafter switched off and hence could not be tracked.
A local court here is scheduled to consider the anticipatory bail application of Harikumar on November 14. But police sources said that since the accused in a police officer, the chances of getting the anticipatory bail was very bleak.
Meanwhile, a witness in the case alleged that he was being threatened by some unidentified persons. Mahin, who run a hotel at the murder spot, received the threat. He also said that a worker of his hotel, who was also a witness, had left following fear.
Police sources said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was planning to visit Sanal Kumar's house. However, due to the chances of protests, the Chief Minister was holding his visit.
Sanalkumar was allegedly pushed on to road by Harikumar following an altercation over parking the deceased's car near his (Harikumar's) car on Monday night.
