Hyderabad: Technical glitch may fail students

8 per cent of students are still unable to pay their examination fee.

Hyderabad: Even though the extended deadline for paying the exam fee is over, technical glitches are still causing problems for the conduct of the Intermediate Public Examinations in March 2019. Payments made for sitting the examination are apparently not showing, which means many students who have paid their fees may not be allowed to give the exam. From October 24, 2018 the deadline was extended to October 31, 2018 and then to November 6, 2018 and instructions were issued to officers for reconciliation of fee particulars with respective colleges.

According to college principals, if the board conducts the examination with the existing data, many students who paid the examination fee may not get hall tickets. Educationists say the collection of data should be done again through the Centre for Good Governance, and the verification should be done by a high level technical committee consisting of IT department and other agencies to resolve the technical glitches.

The data processing work for the intermediate examination has been done by the Centre for Good Governance and the Result Processing work has been carried out by private agencies that have experience and expertise in this field. Later, a private firm that was technically eligible and financially suitable was given the data processing work.

According to the tender document pre-qualification criteria, 11 mandatory eligibility criteria have been fixed by the Board of Intermediate Education. According to the sixth criteria the firm should have executed technology based examination solutions for a single Board or Government University with a single purchase order, with three lakh enrolled students per year during any of the last five academic years. But the firm chosen name of firm?has worked only for online revaluation of answer scripts of only 20,000 students for the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE).

Dr P Madhusudhan Reddy, president, Government Junior Lecturers' Association, said, "Without any application design the firm has been permitted to start work for the academic year 2018-2019 to capture students data from the affiliated colleges from June 1, 2018. The said company was not able to capture the data up to July 15, 2018. The TSBIE decided to assign the work to Centre for Good Governance (CGG) and accordingly CGG has completed the task."

The board authorities have denied the allegations and say that 92 per cent of students of Intermediate have paid the examination fee, through the TSBIE web portal as the technical issues related to payment of examination fees have been fixed.and also other cases Multiple payment methods were already refunded to the concerned college accounts automatically.

Students pay late fee due to technical issue
Students intending to appear for the Intermediate examinations in March are paying late fee because of technical glitches in the software.
The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) extended the fee payment date to Nov. 6, 2018. However, the junior colleges and their students are still facing issues due to technical glitches.

Gouri Satish, honorary president, Private Junior Colleges Mgmt Association said, “The students and the junior colleges are still facing a problem with glitches in the examination fee payment software. Sometimes we are unable to make the payment even after the amount has been debited from our account and even after receiving the transaction IDs.” He further adds, “The students’ problem is that if they are unable to pay the exam fee and if they fail to pay the exam fee, they won’t be allowed to write the exam. What if the students pay the fee and it’s not debited or credited in the boards account?
