Hyderabad: Pre-primary seats fill up ahead of time

According to Telangana Parents' Association, this violates the education department's orders, according to which admissions should start in June.

Hyderabad: Several private schools have completed admissions for pre-primary classes for the next academic year. A school located on Lower Tank Bund Road has put up a board stating ‘Nursery admissions closed for the year 2019-2020’.

According to Telangana Parents’ Association, this violates the education department’s orders, according to which admissions should start in June. This shows the “arrogance” of private schools since no specific rules have been framed for pre-primary nursery classes, said N. Narayana, president of the Telangana Parents’ Association.

“This is also because of a lapse on the part if the government, as there are no specific rules framed for admissions of pre-primary nursery classes, due to which private schools are using this loophole. The education department should awake and be alert on such public evidences,” he said.

However, Mr Srinivas Reddy, president of the Telangana Recognised Private School Management (TRSMA), said, “This tradition has been there since the last 40 years, that all missionary schools and international schools finish their admissions for the next academic year for pre-primary classes (early) because of the huge demand. By doing this some schools create demand for their school by finishing the admissions even before they should do it and they create new sections once the demand has increased.’’
