Chennai: DMDK treasurer Premalatha has said her party is prepared to face the election, whether it is bypoll or Lok Sabha, anytime. Compared to other parties in the state, the support from people for her DMDK has increased, she claimed.
The DMDK enjoyed the support of the people in all the 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu and this would ensure a comfortable place for her party, she indicated. Her party, she asserted, was prepared to face the election, whether it is bypoll or Lok Sabha election, anytime.
Speaking at the marriage function of her party functionary in Panruti in Cuddalore district near here on Friday she alleged that the vote base of both the ruling AIADMK and Opposition DMK have corroded. "While the AIADMK has split into five groups post Jayalalithaa and found its vote base dwindling, the DMK under M. K. Stalin did not enjoy the popularity seen during the times of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidi. This is evident from the results of the R. K. Nagar Assembly constituency (in the city) where the parties have lost their poll deposit," she said.
Premalatha maintained that the DMDK has emerged as a major player in Tamil Nadu politics and exuded confidence over her party winning in the local bodies, by-election, assembly and Lok Sabha elections, were they to be held anytime.
