I-T department doing its work: EPS-OPS camp

EPS-OPS camp of the AIADMK on Thursday rubbished the ''vendetta' charge of TTV Dhinakaran.

CHENNAI: EPS-OPS camp of the AIADMK on Thursday rubbished the ''vendetta' charge of TTV Dhinakaran, saying the I-T department was merely carrying out its duty as mandated by the law. AIADMK deputy coordinator R. Vaithilingam and handlooms minister O. S. Manian said raids by the income tax department have become routine and these days and no political motive should be attributed to such searches. Vaithilingam said the income tax department has been mandated by the law to conduct searches at any place based on inputs.

“I-T raids have become routine now. I-T raids keep happening at several places and the I-T department has every right to searches any place where they suspect people have evaded taxes. There is nothing more to it,” Vaithilingam told reporters, while dismissing charges of “political vendetta” by the TTV camp.
O. S. Manian, who was considered to be a staunch supporter of the Sasikala family, also spoke in the same vein saying people who have nothing to hide should not be scared of any-one.

“I-T raids have become the order of the day and it keeps happening. People who have nothing to hide should not be scared of any raids,” he told reporters when asked to comment on the I-T raids.
