Telangana to allow corporate sector develop school infrastructure
Hyderabad: As a part of its efforts to improve infrastructure facilities, the TS government has decided to allow adoption of schools by corporate agencies.
The school education department has submitted a report to the TS government on improvement of infrastructure, computers and others in schools. The department estimated that about Rs 486 crore will be required for this.
Following this, the state government decided to allow corporate agencies to contribute in the form of infrastructure, computers, technology-aided learning material etc., as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. The corporate agencies could be industries, software companies, real estate groups and others.
The state government will take up community mobilisation for support in the form of cash, kind and service for improvement of schools and increased resources. The TS government will also take support from students alumni for strengthening libraries, adding classrooms etc.
In addition, it plans to rationalise schools and establish new ones based on the need and within the norms of distance. Schools will be graded based on performance, identification of indicators for school grading and display.
A scorecard (performance index) will be developed based on performance of each school in various parameters. The scorecard will be placed on public domain for reference of parents and community.
