JD(S) gets Mandya, Ramanagara seats
Bengaluru: In spite of strong resistance from local leaders in Ramanagara and Mandya, the Congress party on Tuesday decided to follow the coalition dharma by allowing its partner JD(S) to field its candidates in these constituencies in the forthcoming by-elections.
Speaking to reporters a senior leader said party leaders did give a patient hearing to the claims of local Congressmen but ultimately decided not to put up candidates in these constituencies. Some leaders who attended the meeting on Tuesday however warned that the party would be ruining itself by backing the JD(S) in these seats. “JD(S) highhandedness has already caused severe heartburn to us in these districts,” the leaders warned. For Jamkhandi Assembly seat which too goes to polls on November 3, the party has finalised the name of Anand Nyamegouda, son of former MLA late Siddu Nyamegowda. Source added that the party had successfully shortlisted former minister, Kimmane Rathnakar and former CADA chairman Chandrashekar for the a Lok Sabha seat and B. Ramprasad, brother of Congress MLA B. Nagendra and Y. Nettakallappa for the Ballari LS seat.
