Collector assures help to flood hit people at Krishna Lanka

Power supply was stopped to 20 houses as a precautionary measure

Vijayawada: NTR district collector S. Dilli Rao visited the flood-affected areas in Krishna Lanka and assured all help to them on Saturday night.

Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that floodwater has affected 14 houses in central mandal, 12 houses in east mandal in Krishna Lanka area as nearly five lakh cusecs of water was being discharged from the Praksam barrage to the downstream.

Power supply was stopped to 20 houses as a precautionary measure in addition to keeping oil engines ready to pump out water once the floodwater started receding, he said.

He said that those whose houses were affected by the floodwater were evacuated to Potti Sriramulu municipal school for rehabilitation and asked the people from the affected areas to be ready to be moved to safety.

He said the revenue officials were instructed to provide all requisite help to the flood-affected people and added that the officials from revenue, water resources and fisheries along with police personnel were told to keep a watch and alert the people in case flood threat increases and move them to safety.
