Bengaluru police chiefs for a day

The programme was organised in association with NGO Make A Wish India.

Bengaluru: In a kind gesture, Bengaluru police on Monday appointed five children, suffering from life-threatening illnesses, as city police commissioners for one whole day to make their wish of becoming cops come true.

The programme was organised in association with NGO Make A Wish India. The children clad in police uniform, wielding baton, gun and handcuffs, took charge as the police commissioners in the morning and played the role of commissioner for the rest of the day.

Besides chairing a meeting with the police staff at the Commissioner of Police Bhaskar Rao's chamber, the little police commissioners interacted with Mr. Rao and asked him various questions. The children were also made to sign a few mock documents.

The children received the guard of honour and visited the control room and dog squad. They also learnt how to use the walkie-talkie and rode in a police jeep.
