Kerala: Conclave of small, medium business in Dubai

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that a conclave of small and medium scale industrialists would be held in Dubai on October 4 to attract investment for Kerala's development.

The Chief Minister said the government had set up an investment company and he hoped it would attract expatriate investors for development. Permanent shelters will be built in areas prone to disasters particularly floods. Special arrangements will be made for providing alternative accommodation for people returning from the camp till the construction of houses.

The Chief Minister said a study on environmental issues is underway and the experts would also consider the recommendations in the Madhav Gadgil and Kasturirangan reports. The committee will submit its report within three months.

The co-operation of the local people will be ensured to revive the rivers. A great culture was developed during the campaign for rejuvenating Varataar. Since then, there has been a huge participation of the people. The Chief Minister said the participation of NRKs and utilisation of corporate social responsibility funds could be considered for the rejuvenation of rivers.The participation of all sections of society will be ensured for creating Nava Kerala. The livelihood means, agriculture, empowerment of people would be given top priority. The government is providing Rs 4 lakh for construction of houses.
