Chennai: Labour department introduces online facility for licenses, renewals

CHENNAI: Small Industries, commercial institutions, shops, hotels, food industries, motor transport operators and labour contractors who have to obtain licenses and registration certificates under various Labour laws and under Weights and Measurement Act, can henceforth obtain them online from the State Labour department, its commissioner R. Nandhagopal said in a release here.

All these institutions and establishments can get the license, renewal, corrections by logging on to the website, http://Labour.tn.gov.in . They can also pay the fees online and download the printouts.

Low-risk institutions up to nine employees will be inspected by the Labour department once in five years. Medium-risk institutions with 10 to 49 employees will be inspected once in two years. High-risk institutions with more than 50 employees will be inspected every year. These institutions should upload their yearly self-attested statements online, he said.
