No words to describe our pain: Victim's kin

The family was inconsolable when the bodies were brought home in Sumanahalli after a post mortem in Victoria Hospital on Saturday.

Bengaluru: After successfully undergoing surgery for breast cancer, things were getting back to normal for Bharathi (38), a home guard working for BBMP.

However, her joy was short lived as on Friday, she along with her husband Ramesh (42) and brother Jagadish (46) died after a tree fell on their car at Minerva Circle.

The family was inconsolable when the bodies were brought home in Sumanahalli after a post mortem in Victoria Hospital on Saturday. “We have no words to describe the pain we are going through right now. My world has been destroyed in seconds,” said Jagadish’s wife Roopa, as tears rolled down her eyes.

Recalling her last telephonic conversation with her husband moment before he died, Roopa said on Friday she was constantly in touch with him. Jagadish, along with Ramesh and Bharathi had gone to get the car repaired.

Not knowing a tree had fallen on the car, she called up Jagadish again who received the call, but could not talk as he was seriously injured. “I got to know about the incident from my nephew who was in the car and had a miraculous escape. He later informed about the deaths. I was shocked and motionless for some time,” Roopa said. “I don’t understand what to do now. Should I cry over my husband’s death or console my nephews who have lost their parents at a very young age,” she said and burst into tears.

Tense scene at hospital
High drama prevailed at the Victoria Hospital on Saturday as the family members of the deceased refused to accept the bodies until the BBMP Mayor G. Padmavathi visited the hospital. Later, she visited the hospital and consoled the family. She announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased and a job in BBMP to a member of both the families
