Hyderabad High Court sets terms for Gali Janardhan Reddy's helicopter
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has directed the special CBI court in the city to release the Bell 407 helicopter belonging to mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy of the Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC).
Justice M. Satyanarayana Murthy directed OMC to furnish a bank guarantee of Rs 6.62 crore.
The judge granted the direction while dealing with a petition filed by OMC managing director B.V. Srinivas Reddy challenging the order of the CBI court which sought a personal bond of Rs 6.62 crore and immovable property belonging to KRR Exims Pvt Ltd, a group firm, as surety.
OMC furnished the property of KRR Exims Pvt Ltd as but did not put up the Rs 6.62-crore personal bond. The CBI court refused to release the helicopter.
OMC then moved the High Court stating that it was prepared to furnish a bank guarantee of Rs 6.62 crore instead of a personal bond.
The CBI did not object, and the judge directed the CBI court to release the helicopter after the petitioner furnished a bank guarantee.
The CBI during its investigation investigation into the Obulapuram mining scam had seized luxury cars and the helicopter, named Rukmini, belonging to Mr Janardhan Reddy and his family members and his company.
