Tamil Nadu to ask committee for 65 tmcft of Cauvery water
Meeting for the 6th time after the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal was notified in the gazette.
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government would be arguing for release of 64.7 tmcft of water from Cauvery by the Karnataka Government for cultivation of samba crops in the Delta region at the Cauvery Supervisory Committee meeting on Monday.
Meeting for the 6th time since it was constituted in 2013 after the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal was notified in the gazette, the CSC is expected to give a patient hearing to representatives of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, both of whom have been sticking to their known stands.
In a 13-page report e-mailed to the CSC late on Wednesday night, the Tamil Nadu Government is asking it to ensure Karnataka releases 64.7 tmcft of water due to TN as on September 5.
