Nomination for Padma Awards thrown open for general public
Opening up of the process will help in identifying unsung people of excellence, sources said.
New Delhi: Anyone can now recommend any achiever for the Padma awards, with the government throwing open the nomination process to the general public to make it transparent and curb lobbying.
The nominations can be made online at www.padmaawards.gov.in but the nominators would have furnish their Aadhaar details for authenticity and accountability. The last date is September 15. Opening up of the process will help in identifying unsung people of excellence, sources said.
“The online application portal plus electronic management system harnesses technology to make processing of nominations transparent,” the sources said. The Centre has received about 1,700 nominations so far for the Padma awards.
