KAKINADA: There was chaos and stampede at actor and Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan’s public meeting for the cause of special category status on Friday evening. A 22-year-old youth died and several persons were injured. Four people were admitted to hospital.
Some fans tried to push forward, leading to stampedes at several places in the packed ground. Many fans had climbed nearby buildings and trees. Nandikolla Venkata Ramana, 22, of East Godavari fell from a building. He was rushed to a hospital where he died. Many women lost their ornaments and were injured, though 2,000 people were deployed to control the crowds.
