Food Poisoning at Hosapete Girls Hostel, 34 Students Hospitalised

Hosapete: The 34 inmates of Post Matric Girls Hostel of Jambunatha Road in Hosapete who encountered health complications after dinner were shifted to the government hospital on Wednesday late night.

All the students are out of danger and in stable condition. Sources said that the hostel accommodates a total of 149 students. On Wednesday evening, 17 of them opted for a vegetarian meal while the rest took a chicken dish.

In the night 34 students who had consumed the non-vegetarian food reported vomiting and abdominal discomfort. They were immediately shifted to Hosapete's government hospital for treatment. Five students were discharged and 29 students are currently undergoing treatment.

In light of the incident, health authorities have sent the samples of the food to a laboratory in Mysuru for analysis. The results of these tests are anticipated within the next 2-3 days.

District in-charge Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner MS Diwakara, and Zilla Panchayat CEO Sadashiva Prabhu B visited the hospital earlier today.

Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan addressed the media, attributing the incident to food poisoning. He assured reporters that the students are receiving optimal care and reassured everyone that they are expected to be discharged on Friday.
