Determined to help tribals: Pamula Pushpa Srivani

The people from the Agency areas took part in large numbers to celebrate World Tribal Day.

Visakhapatnam: Deputy Chief Minister Pamula Pushpa Srivani said that the government of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was giving more importance to the tribal like never before. The Deputy CM was attending World Tribal Day celebrations that were held in Araku on Friday.

The people from the Agency areas took part in large numbers to celebrate World Tribal Day. Addressing the meeting Ms Pushpa Srivani said, “As promised during the Padayatra, the Chief Minister has sanctioned a medical college to Paderu to create medical facilities in the Agency areas. The government has also allocated Rs 4,988 crore for tribal welfare in the Budget and this is Rs 811 crore more than what the earlier government had given.”

She added that the government was coming up with Super Speciality Hospitals in ITDA regions and 108 services would be kept available in all the mandals.

“Several welfare schemes are being implemented keeping the development of tribals in mind. Before the five-year tenure ends, the government will come up with many other development activities,” she said.

Tourism minister Muttamsetti Srinivas said, “The Assembly sessions were held for 14 days and about 19 bills were passed. About 80 per cent of the promises made in the manifesto were implemented. The government has created about 2.7 lakh village volunteer jobs and 1.35 lakh village secretary jobs. This will help more than 4 lakh unemployed youth in the country. The tourism department is taking up several projects in tribal areas and about 75 per cent of jobs will be given to locals.”
