Bomb threat to Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s residence: One arrested

He called the police control room about a bomb being planted at the Chief Minister\'s house.

Chennai: City police arrested a man who called up the police control room claiming that a bomb would explode at the residence of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. According to sources, at around 8: 30 pm on Wednesday, the police control room received a call from a man saying that a bomb would go off on Greenways Road residence of the Chief Minister at any moment. City police responded by heightening security on the premises and combing the place.

The information turned out to be a hoax. Meanwhile, the man called police 19 more times, informing them about a bomb waiting to explode.

Cyber cell police identified the caller as Vinod Kumar (33), a resident of Parasakthi Nagar, who works as
a driver. Police subsequently arrested him from his house. He called the police control room from his mobile phone while drunk, it is learnt. Incidentally, this is not the first time Vinod did this. It may be noted that on 28 July, Vinod made a similar call, creating panic.

He called the police control room about a bomb being planted at the Chief Minister's house. He was traced,
arrested and remanded in Puzhal jail. He was released on bail on August 5. At that time he told police that he
was angry that his complaint about his missing wife was not taken seriously by police.
