Special medical team to visit flood-hit areas in Kerala

The minister also directed the health service officlas to provide adequate medicines in hospitals in the flood affected areas.

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister K. K. Shylaja on Thursday issued high alert in view of the heavy rains in various parts of the state.

District medical officers directed to take preventive and precautionary measure to check water borne diseases and other communicable diseases in post disaster situation. Special medical teams to be deployed in the affected areas.

The minister has asked the Director of Health Services and Director of Medical Education to take preventive measures to check the spread of communicable diseases.

The minister also directed the health service officlas to provide adequate medicines in hospitals in the flood affected areas.

Special medical teams have been set up in areas which had witnessed landslides . All district medical offices,and district progamme managers are putting in place extensive facilities in each district.

A medical team has been deployed in Cheruthoni, Thadiyambad and Cheluchuvadu in the backdrop of opening a shutter of Cheruthoni Dam which is part of Idukki reservoir.

Ambulance services have been providedin Kirithode, Chappath and Cherthoni in the wake of opening shutters of the dam.

Krithode The ambulance facility is also confirmed in Kareri, Chappath and Cheruthoni.

The health department has taken adequate precautions in all five panchayats through whci water released from the dams in the area is flowing.
