Bus operations to Kerala suspended

The alert has been issued as there was a likelihood of floods and landslides in some areas like Calicut and Kannur.

Bengaluru: With various parts of Karala witnessing heavy rainfall, claiming lives and triggering landslips, flash floods and damaging property. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has put on hold for all its services to Kerala from Thursday night. As a precautionary measure so as not to inconvenience passenger’s midway, KSRTC officials have taken a call to suspend the services. The alert has been issued as there was a likelihood of floods and landslides in some areas like Calicut and Kannur.

"All divisions from KSRTC have stopped the services to Kerala due to heavy rainfall. The ten buses including high-end Volvo buses that left Bengaluru yesterday has reached Calicut and other parts safely and that will stay back in Kerala till we get clearance for the Kerala government. The other 10 to 15 buses which were supposed to operate in the night from Bengularu has suspended. We are told that the situation will be better by tomorrow morning as the water level

receded giving relief to the people. So will wait for the Kerala government to operate our buses" says a KSRTC official.

A total of 40 buses will play to Kerala every day by KSRTC. All of them has been put on hold from Thursday night.
