Marriage party stuck as heavy rains lash Prakasam
Official says the rain is very beneficial to the pulses being cultivated in some parts of the district.
NELLORE: Rains lashed several parts of Prakasam district on Wednesday. The Gundlakamma river is overflowing because of the heavy downpor. A marriage party got stuck in Sri Ranganayaka Swamy temple at Racharla mandal because of the heavy inflows into the river due to rains in its catchment areas. Officials rushed to the spot and recued the party.
In another incident, 12 cattle were killed in a wall collapse at Anamanamuru in Korisapadu mandal. The owner of the herd was grieved District Agriculture Officer Murali Krishna said the rains are beneficial to the pulses cultivated in some parts of the district. The average rainfall recorded was 22.3 mm with Naguluppapapadu mandal recording 98 mm and Parchur 50.6 mm.
