Karnataka Governor launches Wall of Heroes'

Governor spoke on the importance of including lessons of nation-building in the curriculum of higher education.

BENGALURU: Commemorating Quit India Day and the brave deeds of the soldiers, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala unveiled the ‘Wall of Heroes’ at an event in Rajbhavan on Wednesday.

The ‘Wall of Heroes’ includes portraits of Param Vir Chakra recipients, which will soon find a place in all universities across the state. The initiative is a part of Vidya Veerta Abhiyan, a campaign launched with the prime aim to instil patriotism among students across the country. The Governor who is also the Chancellor of the varsities handed over CDs containing portraits of the wartime heroes to the vice-chancellors during the event.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor spoke on the importance of including lessons of nation-building in the curriculum of higher education.

“A student who graduates with a mind to work for the nation even with 40% marks is more deserving than his/her counterpart who scores 95% but fails to contribute towards nation-building,” he asserted.
