Hyderabad may get 'green museum' if Centre gives approval
Hyderabad: The city will get a ‘green museum’, being set up by the Environmental Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI).
Located at the institute’s campus at Gachibowli, EPTRI has written to the government for approval for the museum costing Rs 5 crore that will come up on 15,000 square feet.
Hyderabad has the Salar Jung Museum, City Museum (Purana Haveli), State Museum in Public Garden, Birla Science Museum and Natural History Museum but this is the first on the subject of environmental protection and management.
EPTRI director-general B. Kalyan Chakravarthy in a letter to the state government said that it had proposed to build the museum in order to add to the attractions create awareness in the public about the importance of environment protection.
He said the building would be constructed with green concepts. He proposed setting up a digital gallery with computer-based interactive effects, digital walls or displays inside the gallery, immersive experiences and space for environmental exhibitions.
