Hurray weekend! Bengalureans head out
Bengaluru: The long weekend, thanks to Independence Day and Janmashatami, is giving Bengalureans an opportunity to take the much awaited break.
Cab drivers are booked for the weekend and tourist spots around Bengaluru too are expected to be full.
While some Bengalureans are taking off to Ooty and Kodaikanal, some are seeing it as an opportunity to spend quality time with their families.
“Holidays don’t come easy, when you’re working and studying,” says Ankit Acharya, a city based designer and a student of NIFT. “This holiday has been long overdue and I have planned it to the last stitch. 15 of us are doing a road trip to Ooty this weekend,” he said.
Meghana, a media professional, is reuniting with her brother who is coming home for Rakhi. “It is perfect, because my brother and I don’t get vacations that often. This long weekend, everything is together, so he’s flying down from Hyderabad and we can all celebrate together.”
“Bookings usually go up during such holidays. It is good for business. Cabs and buses are mostly booked in advance and we get requests for hotel rooms as well. It is off season, so the fares are cheaper,” said an employee from KPN Travels.
