CM K Chandrasekhar Rao sets up panel on districts
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who discussed the formation of 14 new districts in addition to the existing 10, constituted a Cabinet subcommittee and asked officials to prepare guidelines before Dasara, when the new map of districts is to be unveiled.
He instructed officials to announce the draft notification in the third week of August to seek objections and suggestions. Mr Rao discussed the formation of new districts with ministers Etela Rajendar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, Mines Development Corporat-ion chairman Subhash Reddy, legal officers and senior officials on Tuesday.
Mr Rao instructed officials not to take political demands seriously but to focus on public convenience and backwardness and ensure robust districts. He also asked them to take into account all legal cautions, zonal and other issues that crop up due to division of the existing districts.
