Speaker Ramesh Kumar takes his time, Congress breathes

Legislators would be asked to meet the Speaker on Friday and Monday to explain about their resignation letters.

Bengaluru: Mr Ramesh Kumar who perused all resignation letters on Tuesday, announced that only those of five legislators were in order. "These five are of Anand Singh, Narayana Gowda, Pratap Gouda Patil, Gopalaiah and Ramalinga Reddy," he told the media adding, "Since the other resignation letters were not in the prescribed format, we have sent them a reminder letter that they were not in the prescribed format and hence, if you wish you can submit your resignations properly." These legislators would be asked to meet the Speaker on Friday and Monday to explain about their resignation letters.

However, leaders of the state unit of BJP – despite being accused of fomenting the rebellion – plan to stage a protest demanding the resignation of Mr Kumaraswamy on grounds that he has lost majority as well as call on Governor Vajubhai Vala and Speaker Mr Ramesh Kumar in an effort to expedite the process of acceptance of resignation letters, a move which would help the party give an opportunity to take a shot at forming the new government.
