Hyderabad: Businessman targeted for six months

The suspects may be placed under arrest on Wednesday and produced before a court with financial disputes as the reason for the murder.

Hyderabad: Punjagutta police found that last Saturday’s murder of steel plant owner T. Ramprasad was planned six months ago. The suspected killers came to the city a fortnight ago to carry out their plan.

Three days after the murder of a businessman in Punjagutta, the Hyderabad police continued to question four suspects who surrendered before them. On Tuesday, the police recovered a car and three sickles used to kill steel plant owner T. Ramprasad, 49.

The car in which the accused travelled and the sickles were recovered by the police from Gachibowli.

On Monday, three persons T. Shyam, Ramesh and Chotu spoke to the media before surrendering before the police and claimed they had committed the murder over financial disputes. Shy-am had tried to implicate Ramprasad’s brother-in-law V. Srinivas.

The prime suspect is Ramprasad’s former partner K. Satyam.

During questioning, the police found that the conspiracy to kill Prasad was planned about six months ago. Shyam, Ramesh and Chotu took a room on rent in the city about 15 days ago and were following Ramprasad and waited for an opportunity to attack and kill him.

They executed their plan on July 6, when Ramprasad was returning from a temple at Durganagar Colony in Punjagutta. He died while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

Sources said that the police shifted the four suspects K. Satyam, Shyam, Chotu and Ramesh to the Bolaram police station to question them separately in connection with the offence and recorded their statements.

It is likely that the suspects may be placed under arrest on Wednesday and produced before a court with the police finding that the financial disputes are a reason behind the murder. The police is verifying call data records of the suspects to find if any others are involved.

When contacted, a senior police official of the Hyderabad police commissionerate said: “It is premature to say anything about the case now. The investigation of the case still is still going on.”
