Fight over political crisis: BBMP council adjourns

At the Council meeting, Congress corporators protested, alleging that the BJP is trying to topple the coalition government using illegal means.

Bengaluru: A BBMP special council meeting, which was called to discuss various issues like levying road cess in property tax, ward committees and others, was adjourned as a fight broke out between Congress and BJP corporators over the political crisis the JD(S)-Congress government is facing in the state.

At the Council meeting, Congress corporators protested, alleging that the BJP is trying to topple the coalition government using illegal means. This led to a fight between members of the two parties and Mayor Gangambike had to adjourn it to Wednesday.

Talking to reporters later, she said that she is the Mayor for not just Congress but all 198 corporators.

Ruling party leader Abdul Wajid said that they are ready to take up any discussion. "Our objection was only to horse trading the BJP is indulging in to destabilise the Congress-JD(S) government,” he said.
