District to get 933 Grama Secretariats

Mr Dwivedi’s letter specifies the number of Grama Secretariats and the employment details in each district.

Vijayawada: As many as 933 Grama Secretariats (village secretariats) would be established in Krishna district by October 2, each with 11 employees and one grama secretary.

Following Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s directions, panchayat raj chief secretary Gopala Krishna Dwivedi has written to the collectors of all the 13 districts in the state start the process of making the appointments.

Mr Dwivedi’s letter specifies the number of Grama Secretariats and the employment details in each district. Since the Chief Minister ordered the officials to establish one Grama Secretariat for every 2,000 population, a total of 933 secretariats would be established in Krishna district.

These are in addition to the existing Grama Panchayats.

While each of these Grama Secretariat will have 11 employees, the authorities do not rule out the possibility of increasing the number in town and city limits soon.

The appointment of these employees would be monitored by officials of the panchayat raj, revenue, medical and health, animal husbandry, horticulture, social and tribal welfare departments.

All these employees will be treated as the government employees but will be paid honorarium only for the first two years.

These employees of should prepare to do any work located in their Grama Secretariat.

All of them will be appointed by the district authority and the related departments would train them in their respective fields.

These 11 employees will get the designation of panchayat secretary, village revenue officer, survey assistant, ANM, veterinary or fisheries assistant, women security personnel, engineering assistant, electrical assistant, agriculture or horticulture, digital assistant, and welfare assistant.

AP Unemployed Youth state secretary Samayam Hemanth Kumar said that there are many of the unemployed youths who cross the age limit and lose their eligibility. “If the government wants to provide jobs for the genuine unemployed, it should enhance the age limit to 44 years,” he said.

Mr Kumar said that the of Telangana state government has set 44 years as the cut off age for all recruitments and the AP government should follow suit.

He said that since the government may enhance the number of posts in the future, it should increase the number of employees in each Grama Secretariat to 20.
