Telangana government to shut down all polluting units

The state government wouldn't hesitate to close down such units. So far, 16 such units were closed down.

Hyderabad: Telangana state industry and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday warned that polluting industrial units to upgrade production line ensuring zero pollution, otherwise the state government wouldn’t hesitate to close down such units. So far, 16 such units were closed down, he said.

The minister set the foundation stone for an effluent treatment plant (ETP) at Pashamylarum in Patancheru mandal. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rao said: “The ETP will be built at an investment of Rs 104 crore and is expected to be operational within six months. Citizens in Patancheru mandal have been requesting the government to take steps to stem pollution.
