Panel to probe fraud' in bagair hukum land grant

Bharatiya Janata Party member J Madhuswamy raised the issue and said that land was granted to people, who were living in Bengaluru too.

Bengaluru: The Legislative Assembly on Monday decided to constitute a special committee to probe the alleged fraud in allotment of bagair hukum land. Following complaint by many members in the House that officials were granting land to people who were not eligible, Speaker Mr K,R, Ramesh Kumar directed the government to obtain a report within the next three months.

Bharatiya Janata Party member J Madhuswamy raised the issue and said that land was granted to people, who were living in Bengaluru too. He cited the example of land being granted to the wife of an assistant sub-inspector and his son, though the son was only one-year-old! Three MLAs from Shivamogga district- Kumar Bangarappa, Araga Jnanendra and Harathal Halappa produced documents to prove that such frauds have taken place even in their constituencies.

Arasikere MLA Mr Shivalinge Gowda said that at least 500 acres of land had been allotted to illegal beneficiaries in his constituency. Mr Ramesh Kumar collected the documents and asked his secretariat to prepare a covering letter and send it to the Revenue Minister's office. He directed Revenue Minister Mr R.V. Deshpande to conduct an investigation and ask the officials to submit a report within three months.
