No open places to carry on Telangana green initiative

Karimnagar officials to replace dead plants with new ones.

Karimnagar: The officials concerned are facing difficulty in finding open places for planting saplings in the third phase of Haritha Haram in both Karimnagar and Adilabad towns.

While the Adilabad district officials found open places in encroached government lands on the outskirts of Adilabad town, Karimnagar officials are still struggling to find new spaces with the deadline fast approaching.

In order to reach the target of planting one-lakh saplings on July 12, Karimnagar officials have selected some old places for third phase where saplings planted under first and second phase and plants died due to negligence. In the third phase, the district officials plan to plant fresh saplings in place of dead ones.
After a brief review, they found that the survival percentage of plants is high in educational institutions compared to other spaces.

As the open places in government owned lands were used to plant saplings in the first and second phase, Karimnagar district officials selected Lower Manair Dam and Sircilla bypass road and Bathukamma play ground. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to plant saplings as part of the current phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haram on the scheduled day.

While some Karimnagar town residents expressed their dissent on officials for neglecting the saplings, some people in various colonies in the town, took care of them and are enjoying the benefit of the programme.
