Cubbon Park bomb hoax call: 3 brothers held
Bengaluru: The three drunken men, who sent the police into a tizzy by making a hoax call about a live bomb in Cubbon Park, were arrested by the Cubbon Park police on Sunday.
The three brothers, who were also involved in theft cases, have been identified as Babu (24), Zakir (22) and Khwaja (20), residents of Ramanagar. On Friday night the trio made the call to Namma 100 with a stolen mobile and claimed that they had spotted a bomb at the park.
According to the police, the accused had on Friday stolen two mobile phones from a mobile shop in Arishinakunte and later stolen one more handset from a shop in Kurubara Pete in Hoskote Nagar.
As a celebration the euphoric trio got drunk. Around 10.30 pm, Zakir dialled 100 using the stolen mobile phone, which also had a SIM card, and told police that the bomb will go off in few minutes.
The police had launched a massive search operation with the help of dog squad, but couldn’t find anything. A complaint was registered in this regard.
The city police are probing if the trio had any cases of theft booked against them in Ramanagar and other police stations.
