Hyderabad: Plea seeks action on polluters
Hyderabad: A PIL has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court seeking directions to the Pollution Control Board to take action against chemical industries and godowns that are functioning illegally at Dhoolapally in Quthbullapur mandal of Ranga Reddy district.
Dhoolapally residents G. Satish and two others moved the High Court alleging that the authorities had failed in taking action against these polluting units.
They stated in their petition that though the gram panchayat and the mandal parishad development officer had issued notices to as many as 109 units, they had not responded.
They said that most of these units were first located in Jeedimetla but were directed to shift to places far away from the city.
The managements of units simply shifted their units to adjacent vacant places a decade ago without having valid purchase or lease deeds and started running their units by constructing sheds, they added. The petitioners told the court that about 200 such units were functioning, making the life of the villagers miserable.
