All work stops at Sarojini Devi eye hospital
At the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital — which is being investigated for the botched cataract surgeries — patients are now being sent back and elective treatment has come to a complete halt. The hospital was performing nearly 40 cataract operations every day, 10 retina operations and also cornea transplants.

Senior doctors said work will not resume until investigations from three committees and the Lokayukta were not complete. “It will take a week to start operations again. All drugs have been taken away and testing is being carried out to decide how the cataract patients got infected.

Even the out-patient department, which has normally close to 700 to 900 patients every day, saw just 10 patients. Many have been asked to go to other hospitals.
