Cyberabad East police commissioner launched Whatsapp number for cops
Hyderabad: Cyberabad East police commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat has launched a new Whatsapp number, 9490617111, for public use. Facebook pages were also launched for all police stations.
Speaking to the press here on Saturday, he said that controlling crimes against women will be the top priority of the police. Mr Bhagawat said the Whatsapp number and FB pages will help the police reach out to the public.
“The public can send complaints, feedbacks and partnership ideas. We will monitor them,” Mr Bhagawat said. “An evaluation of the FB pages will be done once a month,” he added.
He said that conventional crime has come down and that cyber crime, white collar offences and land grabbing have seen rapid rise. FIRs must be registered under proper sections of IPC and that will solve half the problem and ensure a speedy trial, he added.
"In incidents of married women going missing, a ‘woman missing’ case is registered. But if the case is booked under Section 495 for enticing a married woman the case will be strong,” he said.
Securing compensation for the victims of sexual violence and women who die due to burns will be a priority, he said. “Victims under these categories are eligible for compensation and their parents are also eligible for legal aid, but it has to be coordinated with collectorates,” he said.
Mr Bhagawat came down heavily on ragging in colleges. “Ragging will be dealt with sternly,” he said. On the construction of a new commissionerate, he said they are looking for government lands in the Uppal LB Nagar area and will finalise it soon.
