BJP supports women's protest
Chennai: The state unit of the BJP has pledged support to the women agitating against a Tasmac outlet at Pattinapakkam where a woman teacher tragically lost her life while making a vain bid to nab a chain-snatcher. Pointing out that the state government should accept the demand of the public and immediately close down the Tasmac outlet at Pattinapakkam, BJP president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan informed her party’s support to members of the public demanding the closure of the Tasmac shop at Pattinapakkam.
While pledging her party’s support to women who have entered the fifth day of their struggle, she said due to the shop women were unable to step out into the street and employed women and girl students too faced hardship. “It was because of this shop, that a women teacher who attempted to nab the chain-snatcher tragically died. The government should take into account all these factors and order the closure of the shop respecting the sentiments of people,” she said. Earlier in the day, the BJP members participated in the protest.
