Legal aid to ISIS suspects: Centre seeks report from Governor on Owaisi

MIM chief had offered legal support to suspected ISIS terrorists arrested by the NIA in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Union home minister Rajnath Singh will seek a report from Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi extending legal support to suspected ISIS terrorists caught by the National Investigation Agency in Hyderabad and his comments on the issue.

Mr Singh assured a Telangana BJP delegation led by BJPLP leader G. Kishan Reddy and others, when they met him in New Delhi on Saturday, that the Centre will take action if Mr Owaisi is found guilty.

The delegation had sought the arrest of Mr Owaisi and cancellation of his Lok Sabha membership for “aiding and abetting terrorists.”

Mr Owaisi, however, justified his offer of legal aid to the arrested ISIS suspects stating that the Centre, too, had done it in the case of the Pakistani terrorist caught in Mumbai.

“We will soon launch a save Hyderabad campaign to protect the historic city from terrorists and their abettors,” Mr Kishan Reddy said.
