Vijayawada: There seems to be no let-up in the surge of coronavirus infections as Andhra Pradesh has recorded a single day spike of 216 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.
The state health department reported the total number of coronavirus confirmed infections to be 3,990. Of them, 1,510 are in hospital while 2,403 have been discharged.
Two Covid-19 deaths have been reported with one each at Krishna and Anantapur, taking the toll to 77.
Out of 15,085 samples tested, 147 tested coronavirus-positive in the state in the last 24 hours. In addition to them, 69 new infections were reported from other states, taking the total number of cases to 216.
The number of positive cases from foreign returnees were 132. Of them, 114 are active.
Similarly, the total number of positive cases from other states were 907. Of them, 553 are active. In total, the state recorded 5,029 coronavirus infections so far.
In Kadapa district, 20 new coronavirus cases were reported, taking the total number of cases to 246.
Among new cases, 18 were Kuwait returnees and one each from Moragudi and Sirigepalli villages of Jammalamadugu mandal.
