THANJAVUR: With a view to evolve a consensus on construction of a dam at Rasimanal on Tamil Nadu side of the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border and also to emphasise that Tamil Nadu has legal right to do it, an awareness rally will be taken out from Poompuhar, where river Cauvery enters Bay of Bengal in Nagapattinam district on June 10, Monday, said P.R. Pandian, coordinator of the ‘Thamizhaga Anaithu Vivasaya Sangangalin Orunginaippu Kuzhu’ here on Sunday.

In a statement, he said that head of Dharumapuram Adheenam will inaugurate the vehicle rally by giving a brick to be used symbolically for the construction of the dam. On June 11, at 9 am, S. Ranganathan, secretary, Cauvery delta farmers welfare association will hand over another brick at old bus stand at Tiruvarur to the rally participants.

At noon on the same day, ‘Madurai Adheenam’ will hand over a brick at Thanjavur. Traders federation president Vikkiramaraja will then give a brick at Srirangam on the same evening. On June 12, hundreds of farmers will join at Hogennekkal and move to Rasimanal and symbolically lay the foundation for the dam using these bricks to urge Tamil Nadu government to construct the dam, said P.R.
