Jagan bows to touch Modi’s feet at airport

Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy tried twice to touch the feet of Mr Modi after presenting a bouquet of flowers to him.

Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday tried to pay his respect to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by bending forward before him as if to touch his feet — a gesture of respect given to the elders.

On his arrival at the Tirupati Airport, the Prime Minister was received by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and several other leaders of the YSRC and BJP. When the Prime Minister got down from the aircraft, first Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan welcomed him and then Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy tried twice to touch the feet of Mr Modi after presenting a bouquet of flowers to him. But, the PM stopped him and patted on his shoulder. They both had a small conversation, after which the Chief Minister introduced to the PM his Cabinet ministers and YSRC MPs.

Heavy winds that lasted for almost an hour caused mild disruption of the arrangements made for the Prime Minister’s address at the BJP’s Vijayotsava Sabha held near Tirupati airport on Sunday evening. The winds uprooted some of the sheds arranged for party workers, but they managed to reinstall them and the meeting went off without a hitch. The PM then left for Tirumala.
