Adilabad: In a surprise flip-flop, Ms Charulatha Rathod of the Congress who had supported the TRS during the local body elections on Saturday, turned up at the fast-unto-death camp of CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who is protesting the merger of party legislators with the ruling party. Ms Rathod was the Utnoor zilla parishad territorial committee member and had supported the TRS in the election for the zilla parishad chairperson. Other Congress leaders of Adilabad present at the deeksha were surprised at seeing Ms Charulatha beside Mr Mallu Bhatti.
Former minister Jogu Ramanna said that Ms Rathod had, on her own, extended support to TRS candidate Rathod Janardhan and the ruling party had not sought her support. Mr Ramanna said Ms Rathod may also defect to the TRS. Many doubts are being raised over a whip not being issued by the DCC against Congress ZPTCs voting for the TRS in the ZP chairman’s elections.
